The Intermodal Association of North American is seeking a Database Engineer to join our team. This is a hybrid position with Monday’s and Friday’s remote and Tuesday – Thursday in office. The salary range for this position is $100k - $130k, based on skills and experience.

Member companies include ocean, rail, and motor carriers, third party logistics providers, equipment manufacturers and leasing companies, technology vendors, other industry suppliers, as well as shippers, beneficial cargo owners, academics, and public sector representatives.

General Summary of Position:

IANA’s Data Engineer oversees all aspects of IANA’s Information Services Systems databases and Data Warehousing, currently being hosted in Microsoft Azure. This includes management, maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, SQL programming, and documentation. The Data Engineer will work closely with the VP of Information Services and AVP of Information Technology to build and maintain secure data processing pipelines and extract information from Info Services databases by developing SQL queries.

The Data Engineer will also support IANA’s Member Services databases currently being hosted in NetForum. In this respect, the Data Engineer will coordinate with Member Services management and staff.

What You’ll Do:

Key duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage and maintain Information Services databases (PaaS and IaaS) currently hosted in Azure
  • Troubleshoot database errors
  • Develop SQL programming such as Functions, Stored Procedure, Triggers etc.
  • Maintain Database Security, at rest and in-transit
  • Perform functional testing for all applications’ upgrades and enhancements
  • Build simple or complex queries as needed for data integrity and information extraction
  • Assist with data analytics, dashboard creation/enhancements and cleansing
  • Conduct periodic reviews of databases and their health and suggest ways to improve and enhance security, performance, and compliance

Who you are:

  • Proficient in at least one relational database application, MySQL experience preferred
  • Programming language skills in at least one of the languages such as Python, Java, R
  • Robust analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver within deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail and accuracy
  • Hands-on experience working with Azure
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education
  • At least five years of computer science/information systems work experience
